Handy Person Service

Our Handy Person Service is a free community initiative designed to help residents with small household tasks, ensuring they can live safely and independently in their own homes. Whether it’s fixing a loose curtain rail, replacing a lightbulb, assembling furniture, or other minor repairs, our friendly volunteers are here to lend a hand.

How It Works

• The service is completely free of charge and available to residents within the 3 Glens area.
• Each visit is limited to three small tasks per callout to ensure we can help as many people as possible.
• Additional tasks can be scheduled by booking another visit.
• All requests are screened by our Development Officer and services coordinator, Beth, to ensure the work falls within our remit and that the necessary materials are available.

What We Can Help With

• ✔ Changing lightbulbs and batteries
• ✔ Putting up shelves or curtain rails
• ✔ Fixing loose hinges or handles
• ✔ Small furniture assembly
• ✔ Installing safety features like grab rails
• ✔ And much more!

What We Can’t Do

• ✘ Electrical work (e.g., rewiring or socket replacements)
• ✘ Major plumbing repairs
• ✘ Gas-related work
• ✘ Large-scale DIY projects

Support Our Service

While the Handy Person Service is free, optional donations are welcome to help us continue providing this vital support. Donations can be given to our volunteers (who will provide a receipt), or you can place them in one of our donation boxes located around the 3 Glens community. Need Help?
